why POSTPARTUM CARE?

Bringing a baby into the world is incredibly beautiful and also one of the most physically and emotionally demanding experiences of your life.

In the early weeks after birth, your body is healing, your hormones are shifting, and your energy is pulled in many directions.

This is exactly why traditional Malay postpartum care exists, and why I’m passionate about supporting new mothers during this sacred time.

Postpartum package for new moms in hamburg

My postpartum massage package is specially designed for the tender weeks after childbirth.

Created to bring restorative, holistic healing directly to your home, each session helps you recover more comfortably while feeling supported and cared for.

My offering includes daily postpartum massage and the traditional Malay bengkung belly wrapping

Each massage blends intuitive touch, long kneading strokes, and precise acupressure to release pain and tension, reduce water retention, support circulation, and gently realign your energy.

The use of bengkung supports abdominal healing, improve posture, stabilise the core, and encourage womb recovery after birth.

If you’re a new mom in Hamburg seeking postpartum massage, postnatal support, or bengkung belly binding, this offering is created for you — so you can rest, recover, and reconnect with your strength during the fourth trimester.

The Tradition Behind Malay Postpartum Care

Malay postpartum care is a tradition that has been passed down through generations for over hundreds of years.

Long before modern medicine, Malay women developed a comprehensive system of care to support new mothers during the sacred fourth trimester.

This period was not just a time of physical healing, but also a spiritual and energetic recalibration.

Mothers, grandmothers, and traditional midwives (bidan) shared their knowledge of herbs, massage, warming therapies, and womb care to help women recover fully and return to daily life with strength and vitality.

These rituals were considered essential for a woman’s long-term well-being.

The Story of Bengkung (Belly Binding)

One of the most iconic elements of Malay postpartum care is bengkung, a traditional form of belly wrapping practiced across the Malay Archipelago.

The bengkung wrap is a long strip of cotton tied in a continuous pattern from hips to ribcage and is designed to support the abdominal muscles and lower back, encourage womb healing and help the uterus return to its natural position, improve posture while breastfeeding and offer a cocoon-like sense of grounding during the early weeks.

This practice reflects the Malay understanding that after birth, a woman’s body is in a highly open, tender state, and must be gently “brought back together” with care, warmth, and intention.

Frequently asked questions

I offer Balinese, lymphatic, lactation, and belly massage for postpartum care, and I also provide in-home massage services for pregnant women.

Typically you can begin one (1) week after vaginal delivery and six (6) weeks after Caesarean delivery. If you had complications, please check with your Midwife or Gynaecologist for approval.

The postpartum sessions can be scheduled anytime within 3 months after birth.

Bengkung is a form of postpartum belly binding using a long cotton wrap tied from the hips up to the ribcage. It offers support to the abdominal muscles, promotes better posture, encourages uterine recovery, and provides overall stability during the healing period.

It’s typically worn for 4–8 hours a day and is flexible enough that it doesn’t interfere with daily activities like breastfeeding or moving around.

A daily schedule is tailored to what your body needs most that day. Each session focuses on different areas of support. For example, Day 1 may include a full-body treatment, Day 2 might focus on lactation massage, wrist care, and the lower back, and Day 3 could be a balanced mix of everything, and so on.

No matter what we focus on, every day you will receive a belly massage followed by belly wrapping as part of your core postpartum care.

The massage takes place in your  bed. We will use blankets, pillows, gentle lighting, and a warm, soothing atmosphere help you relax and feel cared for. Everything is set up so you can rest, breastfeed if needed, and enjoy a peaceful, restorative experience.
